Sculptra

What is Sculptra?

Sculptra is a bio-stimulating agent. It is not a classical filler. When injected into an area, it stimulates new collagen formation leading to gradual restoration of volume and texture. Sculptra will help rebuild and reinforce your skin’s structural foundation. Sculptra provides long lasting, natural looking results.

How many Sculptra treatments do I need?

One to four treatment sessions (typically three) are needed to achieve optimal correction with a minimum of three week intervals between injection sessions. Dr Maya Zayour will counsel you on what is best for you – the goal is to look fresh and healthy with firmer skin.

Face

Sculptra is injected into many areas of the face to tighten the skin and lift the sagging that occurs early with age. It improves the look of smile lines (the nasolabial folds), marionette lines (sad lines/hollows below the mouth), pre-auricular area (hollowness in front of the ears), radial cheek folds (vertical smile lines –accordion lines/wrinkles on the mid cheeks) and defines the chin and the jawline. Sculptra is also an amazing treatment for atrophic acne scars of the cheeks and temples (See section below). Sculptra provides natural-looking results that become visible over a period of a few months and that will last for a long time.

Neck

Sculptra improves the quality of the wrinkled thin skin over the neck. The tightening of the neck skin leads to lifting of the laxity over the submental (double) chin. Most of our patients are very happy with such effective non-invasive procedures that will give them the overall youthful look without the downtime associated with cosmetic surgery.

Décolletage

The skin over the chest ages very quickly especially with intensive and cumulative sun exposure. It becomes thin and crepy. Dr Zayour injects Sculptra to restore a younger look of the décolleté by making the skin smoother and plumper.

Arms tightening

If you want to tighten the skin over the arms and you are not a good candidate for surgery then Sculptra might be the solution for you. Of course, if the arms are big then laser liposuction is the correct procedure.

Abdominal skin tightening

If you have thin atrophic skin over the abdomen and you are not a good candidate for surgery then you can schedule a consultation with Dr. Maya to see if Sculptra is good for you.

Buttocks Augmentation

After each treatment session of Sculptra, new collagen is stimulated leading to more fullness, smoothness and lift of the buttocks. Sculptra reshapes your buttocks, without general anesthesia. It is an expensive procedure for buttocks augmentation considering that many vials need to be placed at each session, but it is very safe compared to the risks and downtime associated with implant surgery. It is also a quick and straightforward procedure that doesn’t require weight gain nor liposuction (as with fat transfer). The results will be visible gradually and will last for many years.

Cellulite and stretch marks

Sculptra has been shown to improve the sunken areas of cellulite over the buttocks and posterior thighs. Dr Maya combines Sculptra injections with subcision to break the fibrous tracks that pull the skin down in cellulite. This combined procedure produces beautiful and lasting results.

Hands

As we age, loss of soft tissue and thinning of the skin cause wrinkles on our hands and increased visibility of veins and tendons.
Sculptra revitalizes the hands and restore a youthful appearance, improving skin laxity and elasticity, leading to a firmer and plumper skin.

Sculptra for Acne Scars (with Subcision)

Treatment of atrophic acne scars with Subcision and Sculptra is probably the best currently available treatment for this type of scars. Subcision is going underneath the scars to break the fibers pulling the scars down so they lift up. This is followed by placement of Sculptra to induce collagen buildup under the scars. By using a cannula to avoid bruising, downtime is minimal and due to a bit of swelling only.

Post Sculptra Instructions

Massage the treated areas 3 times a day for about 3 minutes for 3 days after treatment to help spread the particles and prevent nodule formation.

How long does it take for Sculptra to work?

Immediately after the treatment, the area looks plumper and fuller in a beautiful way -this immediate effect is due to the material in which Sculptra is dissolved and would be gone in a couple of days but can give you an idea of the final result you may get after several treatments with Sculptra.
A few days after treatment of the face, you will have a beautiful glow and as of 2 weeks after, many patients will feel that the eyes are more “lifted” because the temple skin is tightening as new collagen is being produced. The other areas will need several sessions and months until you are fully satisfied.
Over the body, the improvement comes slowly and gradually as collagen is being rebuilt.

How long do Sculptra results last?

The longevity of collagen is about 7 years, but since we continue to age, touch ups are needed at about 1-2 years.
