Varicose Veins Treatment

Varicose veins are swollen, twisted, and sometimes painful veins that have filled with an abnormal collection of blood.

If you have small, medium and large varicose veins, sclerotherapy with laser treatment is most beneficial.

Sclerotherapy is a very popular method for eliminating spider veins. Dr Zayour will inject a solution into the veins with a small gauge needle. Most patients relate the discomfort to an ant bite.

Laser is another treatment for spider veins, used independently or in combination with sclerotherapy. During laser treatment, laser is applied to the skin over your veins. Laser therapy is most effective for small and medium veins. You are likely to experience mild discomfort similar to having a small rubber band snapping against your skin.

The number of treatments needed differs from patient to patient, depending on the extent of the problem. Averages of 3 to 5 treatments of either laser and/or sclerotherapy are required in most cases. The treatment sessions last approximately 30 min. The sessions are done at 6-week intervals until optimal results are obtained.

Successfully treated veins are gone. However, patients with a history of spider veins tend to develop new ones with time. If this happens, touch-up sessions are done every few years.
